Giovanni Fattori (1825-1908)
Name Tuscan painter Giovanni Fattori (Giovanni Fattori. 6. 09. 1825, Livorno - 30. 08. 1908, Florence), despite the magnitude of his talent, not too popular outside of the homeland. What is the reason for this apparent injustice? Perhaps, in that the core of his work collected in the Italian collections. Most of the original works of the artist is stored in the Florentine Gallery of Contemporary Art, located in the Pitti Palace, as well as in a museum Fattori in Livorno, the home of the wizard.

Giovanni Fattori was educated in the 1846 - 1849 biennium. at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Since 1869 the artist became a teacher in her hometown school. Young Fattori was a direct party to the Revolution 1848 - 1849 years. He received recognition as a master of battle scenes. But the best works of the artist - are small sketches in which the artist managed to convey immediacy of life and breath of time.

Giovanni Fattori is considered a leading group of the representatives «Makkyayoli» ( «Macchiaoli»), established in Florence in the middle of the XIX century. Identification was first used by critics in the ironic sense. The name came from the Italian «Macchia» - «patch, patch», which reflects the style of painting and the contrast of light and shade, typical of the group. Masters makkyayoli traditionally worked on the open air: nature was for them a natural target of a workshop and a picture.
