Polenov Vasily Dmitrievich (1844-1927)
Russian painter and theater activities. Born in St. Petersburg May 20 (1 June) 1844 in the family DV archeologist Polenov. He studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1863-1871) and in parallel - at the Faculty of Law, St. Petersburg University. Took private lessons from the PP and Chistyakova Kramskoy. Visited in 1872-1876 Italy, France and Germany as a «retired» Academy of Arts, and later traveled extensively, visiting, in particular in the Middle East and in Greece (1881-1882, 1899 and 1909). Participated as a volunteer in the Serbo-черногорско-Turkish War of 1877-1878, has created a lot of battle and ethnographic sketches and studies. He was a member of «Association Peredvizhniki».
