Orest Adamovich Kiprensky (13 (24) March 1782 - 5 (17) October 1836) - Russian painter, graphic artist and painter, a master of portraiture.
Orest Kiprensky, illegitimate son of landowner A. Diakonoff, born 13 (24) March 1782 at myze Nizhyn (near Koporie, in the current Leningrad region). According to documents recorded in the family of a serf, Adam Schwalbe.
Having been free in 1788 were enrolled in the educational school, with the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, under the surname Kipreysky. He studied at the Academy until 1803 I lived in Moscow (1809), Tver (1811), St. Petersburg (1812), and in 1816-1822 and 1828 - in Rome and Naples.
In July 1836 Kiprensky married Anne-Marie Falkuchchi, for which he previously had to accept Catholicism.
The artist died in Rome on October 17, 1836 of pneumonia and was buried there in the church of St. Andrea delle Fratte.Nad tombstone stands stele with an inscription: «In honor and in memory Oresta Kiprensky, among the most famous Russian artists, a professor and adviser to the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Arts and a member of the Neapolitan Academy, set to their means, living in Rome, Russian artists, architects and sculptors, grieving untimely extinct torch of his people and a virtuous life ... »
