Briton Riviere (1840-1920)
Briton Rivière was born August 14, 1840 in London. His father, artist William Rivière (born William Rivière), was a teacher at Cheltenham College and then at Oxford, where he received his education and Brighton. In painting, he practically learned everything from his father and became a prominent figure among his contemporaries. In 1857 three of his paintings were exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, although his work began to appear regularly on these shows only in 1863. Later on switched to animalistskie themes and mostly painted animals.
