SNEYDERS, FRANCE (Snyders and Snijders, Frans) (1579-1657), Flemish painter, coryphaeus Baroque still life.
He was baptized in Antwerp on Nov. 11, 1579. He studied at the P. Bruegel the Younger (ca. 1592-1593). In 1608-1609, visited Italy. Upon his return to Antwerp worked in the studio of PP Rubens, often wrote of flowers, fruits and animals in the last scenes. It was essentially a court painter Archduke Albert, the Spanish governor.
